“Deputy Dorkface is bright and fun and promises to capture the imagination of more than a few youngsters who may have been reluctant to read in the past.”
- Young Voices Foundation
Deputy Dorkface first burst on the scene in Deputy Dorkface: How Stinkville Got Cleaned Up. The grumpy, but lovable, public official jumps to conclusions about what’s causing his rash and bans water in his little town even for bathing!
The stinky results convince the children to take the law into their own lassos. They don’t rest until every man, woman, child, horse, and hamster can call out “Hot-diggity-dog! I’m clean!”
In How Sugaropolis Got Dessert Back, our misguided officer of the law goes too far and bans dessert. The towns’ kids retaliate in a giant, wild food fight. Will Deputy Dorkface cave in and at least allow cookies? Will the townspeople be doomed to a life of only beets for treats? Sugaropolis has been nominated for 2012 NYRA Picture Book of the Year.
Burping, being rude, and talking with full mouths have all become the norm for the kids of Mannerland. When the Manners Magnetron flashes and rings constantly, Deputy Dorkface invites the kids to live on their own. After disgusting each other, the kids find they can only come home if they’re able to win the Manners Matchup, kids vs. parents. Follow Deputy Dorkface to see if politeness and consideration can return to Mannerland.
Funny stories with subtle messages for good health, hygiene and manners, delight kids who join in chanting PeeeeUuuuu!, Yummmeee! or Ruuuddde!
