The beautiful new Thelma B. Johnson public early childhood education center in Henderson, Kentucky recently hosted a Deputy Dorkface night!
The school was transformed into Mannerland. Author Kevin Janison gave a reading (actually from Stinkville because the students had already heard Mannerland) to a packed cafeteria – and then the students played different games based on activities from Mannerland. They received some treats based on Sugaropolis (including grilled cheese sandwiches from the food fight), had their
pictures taken in the Mannerland cut-out and got to meet and have a picture taken with the Deputy Dorkface impersonator, who was very funny. He really got into character with quotes, a deep voice, and a very cowboy accent.
We think about 200 people showed up – and the rumor is the school had others waiting – with good manners, of course!
