Weatherman and author Kevin Janison will lead a panel discussion of children’s books at the Vegas Valley Book Festival’s opening day on Thursday, November 5 at the old Historic Fifth Street School. Kevin Janison recently visited St. George, sharing his Deputy Dorkface stories with students at several elementary schools in the area. He can still feel the warmth from the community and the students still have him laughing! Special thanks to the outstanding librarians …

Yes! That’s right!
Kevin Janison will bring Deputy Dorkface to the Storyteller Stage at the Orange County Children’s Book Festival on October 2nd. Kevin and the Deputy will get to hang out with more than 30,000 visitors, meet other children’s authors, illustrators, and entertainers, and read from one of the Deputy’s adventures. Deputy Dorkface will have lots of stories to tell when he comes home! For more information on the event, click here:

During March, Clark County schools celebrate Nevada Reading Week with a slew of activities.
The official celebration lands on the week that encompasses Dr. Seuss’ birthday, which was March 2. Schools, however, are given the option of changing the week that they celebrate to better suit their calendar, or of not participating at all.
“It’s a site-based decision,” said Dan Ihnen, coordinator of library services for the Clark County School District.

Town Hall Meeting at Green Valley High School, Henderson, NV.
During President Obama’s recent town hall meeting in Henderson, Nevada, Channel 3 meterologist and author Kevin Jansion along with his wife Clark County School Board Trustee Terri Janison shook hands with Mr. Obama. Kevin reports that he asked the commander-in-chief about his jump shot.
